Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-3)At #16 Connecticut Huskies (7-1)

Date & Time: November 3, Saturday, 7:45 p.m.

Coming off the biggest win in program history, the 16th-ranked Connecticut Huskies try to maintain their distance from the rest of the Big East, as they host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Rentschler Field this Saturday. The Huskies were completely overlooked by the rest of the Big East powers heading into the season, but they are the ones who stand atop the conference standings with a perfect 3-0 mark. Included in that record is a 22-15 upset of then 11th-ranked South Florida last weekend, the program's first win in 11 tries against a ranked opponent. The win improved the team to 7-1 overall and propelled it into the Top 25 for the first time in school history.

UConn joined the Football Bowl Subdivision ranks in 2002 and that makes it the second fastest team to ever earn a national ranking at this level. As for Rutgers, it is coming off its worst performance of the season, a 31-3 setback to nationally-ranked West Virginia last weekend. It was a disappointing showing for the Knights, who had knocked off then second-ranked South Florida (30-27) the previous week. Now at 5-3 overall and just 2-2 in conference play, Rutgers takes to the road, where it has played just once this season, a 38-14 victory at Syracuse on October 13th. The Knights lead the all- time series with the Huskies, 18-8, and they have won the last two meetings, including a 24-13 triumph in New Jersey last season.

Maryland Terrapins (4-4)At North Carolina Tar Heels (2-6)

Date & Time: November 3, Saturday, 3:45 p.m.

Bitter ACC rivals collide in Chapel Hill, as the Maryland Terrapins invade Kenan Memorial Stadium for a bout with the North Carolina Tar Heels. Maryland hopes to rebound from last weekend's 30-17 loss to Clemson, although the Terps will have to do so with a banged up offense. Maryland played last week's game without three starters on the offensive line, one of which was a preseason All-American at guard. If the Terps are to finish out the remainder of the schedule with their heads above water, they must find a way to beat some pretty good teams in the coming weeks, as Maryland welcomes Boston College next week, followed by road games against Florida State and NC State.

The Tar Heels, who are also just 1-3 in conference play, are coming off a lopsided 37-10 loss to Wake Forest. Although coach Butch Davis is not using it as an excuse for his team's sub-.500 record, the Tar Heels have played one of the country's toughest schedules to date. But after this week's clash with Maryland, UNC's schedule concludes with Georgia Tech and Duke, all winnable games for the Tar Heels. UNC holds a 35-29-1 edge in the head-to-head series, although Maryland has won the last four, including a 33-30 overtime thriller at Chapel Hill in 2005.

Texas El-Paso Miners (4-4)At Rice Owls (1-7)

Date & Time: November 3, Saturday, 3:00 p.m.

Two teams looking to get back in the win column will collide this Saturday afternoon at Rice Stadium, as the Owls will host the UTEP Miners in a Conference-USA tussle. After winning three consecutive games the Miners have dropped two straight, including a tough, 34-31 setback to Houston this past weekend. UTEP has done a solid job outside of the Sun Bowl, posting a 6-8 ledger on the road since the beginning of the 2005-06 season.

As for the Owls, they have lost three games in a row and the most recent setback was a 34-21 loss to Marshall. Surprisingly the Owls have struggled at home, losing all three contests this year at Rice Stadium. Next up for Rice will be a road game against SMU, followed by two straight home games to close out the regular season. The Owls evened the all-time series at five apiece this past season with a slim, 37-31 victory over UTEP.

#15 Michigan Wolverines (7-2) At Michigan State Spartans (5-4)

Date & Time: November 3, Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

The resurgent Michigan Wolverines have climbed up to the 15th position in the most recent AP poll, and they will attempt to remain perfect in Big Ten play as they battle rival Michigan State on Saturday. Since losing to Appalachian State and Oregon in succession to open the campaign, the Wolverines have tallied seven consecutive victories, including six by double figures. Last Saturday, Michigan was clearly dominant in a 34-10 romp over Minnesota. With games against Wisconsin and Ohio State remaining after this weekend, the road to a perfect Big Ten season is tough, but the fact that the Wolverines control their own Rose Bowl fate after such a horrendous start is remarkable.

The good news for Michigan State is that it is 5-4 overall and one win away from becoming bowl eligible. On the down side, the Spartans are 1-4 against Big Ten competition. Four of the last five outings have resulted in defeat, including a 34-27 double-overtime setback at Iowa last weekend. Michigan holds a commanding 66-28-5 series lead over Michigan State, including five straight wins over the Spartans.

#9 Missouri Tigers (7-1)At Colorado Buffaloes (5-4)

Date & Time: November 3, Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

The ninth-ranked Missouri Tigers try to keep in the hunt for the Big 12 North Division title this weekend, as they do battle with the Colorado Buffaloes at Folsom Stadium in Boulder. The Tigers enter the contest on a winning note, posting a 42-28 triumph over Iowa State this past weekend. It was the second in a row by Missouri, which improved to a solid 7-1 overall. More importantly though, the victory keeps the Tigers on the heels of Kansas for the Big 12 North title, as they stand just a half-game back of the Jayhawks (4-0) at 3-1. Missouri however, now hits the road for just the second time in its last six games, with the lone appearance during that stretch resulting in a 41-31 setback at Oklahoma.

As for Colorado, it also comes into the contest on a high note following a 31-26 triumph at Texas Tech last weekend. The win put an end to a brief two-game slide and improved the Buffaloes to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Colorado however, has yet to defeat a team from the North Division, losing to both Kansas and Kansas State, while posting a 3-0 mark versus the South. In terms of the all-time series, Missouri owns a 38-31-3 edge over Colorado and that includes a 28-13 triumph in last season's encounter in Columbia.

Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (4-4) At U-A-B Blazers (2-6)

Date & Time: November 3, Saturday, 7:00 p.m.

In a Conference-USA showdown, the UAB Blazers will host the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles this Saturday evening at Legion Field. After winning two consecutive games, the Golden Eagles dropped to .500 with a tough, 34-17 setback to UCF this past Sunday. Since the start of the 2005-06 season the Golden Eagles have posted a solid 14-7 mark in league play.

As for the Blazers, they have dropped four of their last five games, including an embarrassing 41-6 setback to East Carolina this past weekend. UAB is just 2-6 on the season however, both those wins have come at Legion Field. Next week the Blazers will host UCF, then hit the road for two straight games against Memphis and Marshall. The all-time series between Southern Mississippi and UAB has been a lopsided one, as the Golden Eagles have captured all seven meetings.

Florida State Seminoles (5-3) At #2 Boston College Eagles (8-0)

Date & Time: November 3, Saturday, 8:00 p.m.

The second-ranked Boston College Eagles remain undefeated, and they are set to host the Florida State Seminoles in an ACC tilt. Florida State managed to halt a two-game skid last weekend with a 25-6 triumph over Duke. The Seminoles are 5-3 overall and need just one more victory to qualify for bowl consideration.

However, with Boston College, Virginia Tech and Florida remaining on the schedule, all on the road, the best chance for FSU to capture a win may be on November 17th at home against Maryland. Boston College is off to its best start since 1942 when the team also opened with eight consecutive victories. After the offense struggled for the first 57 minutes of the game against Virginia Tech last Thursday, the Eagles scored two touchdowns in the final 2:11 of that game to beat the Hokies and remain undefeated. With games against Maryland, Clemson and Miami remaining following this tilt, the road to an undefeated regular season appears challenging for Boston College, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to doubt the Eagles. Florida State holds a 3-2 series edge over BC, but the Eagles won last season's meeting by a 24-19 final.

Wyoming Cowboys (5-3) At San Diego State Aztecs (2-5)

Date & Time: November 3, Saturday, 9:00 p.m.

After an unintended week off due to the wildfires in Southern California, the San Diego State Aztecs get back to work on the field this weekend as they entertain the Wyoming Cowboys in a Mountain West Conference battle at Qualcomm Stadium. The Aztecs were slated to take on BYU at home last weekend, but circumstances beyond their control forced the postponement of the contest until December 1st. Nevertheless, SDSU is still having a rough season in 2007, winning just two games versus Portland State and a previously winless Colorado State squad. On October 20th, the Aztecs dropped their second straight decision and the third in the last four games with a narrow 20-17 setback to New Mexico at home.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys needed some late heroics to pull out the 29-24 win over UNLV at home in Laramie. The victory snapped a two-game slide for the group, needing just one more win to become bowl eligible after being shunned by the powers at be a season ago. The Cowboys hold a slight 15-13 edge in the all-time series with San Diego State, thanks in part to a narrow 27-24 victory in last year's meeting. Playing at Qualcomm has certainly given the Aztecs an advantage in recent years though, with the program taking five in a row at home over the Pokes.

Green Bay Packers (6-1) At  Kansas City Chiefs (4-3)

Date & Time: November 4, Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

Brett Favre has beaten every NFL team but one in his illustrious career for the Green Bay Packers. To complete the list and knock off the Kansas City Chiefs, he may need to rely as heavily as ever on his arm. Favre tries to keep the Packers flying high when they visit Kansas City on Sunday for the first time in 11 years. Favre is 0-3 against Kansas City, including a 27-20 loss in 1996 - the team's last visit to Arrowhead Stadium. Already lacking a consistent running game this season, the Packers won't have the services of starting running back DeShawn Wynn as Favre tries to finally get a win against the Chiefs.

Wynn was hurt in Green Bay's 19-13 overtime victory over Denver on Monday night, suffering a significant shoulder injury that will end his season. Ryan Grant, who rushed for 104 yards in Wynn's place, has been named the starter. Even with Wynn, the Packers (6-1) weren't running the ball much. Green Bay is last in the NFL in rushing at 71.3 yards per game. Instead, Green Bay has used short passes and the occasional deep ball to get off to their best start since 2002, and Favre is playing like he did when he won three straight MVP awards from 1995-97.

Favre is averaging 292.3 yards per game, second in the NFL, and is on pace for his best quarterback rating since 2001. His 82-yard touchdown pass to Greg Jennings on the first play of overtime Monday gave Green Bay 10 wins in its last 11 games. With Grant having productive performances like he did Monday night, the Packers can utilize more play-action, which led to both touchdowns against Denver. The Packers, winners of five straight on the road, have used the leadership of Favre and a strong, young defense to grab a share of the NFC's best record along with Dallas. Neither Favre nor the Packers, though, have had the best of luck against the Chiefs (4-3). Favre has five touchdowns and five interceptions with a 77.0 passer rating in his three defeats to Kansas City - in 1993, 1996 and 2003 - and the Packers have lost five straight overall to the Chiefs, their longest active losing streak to one team.

Four years ago, Kansas City rallied from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit - the biggest comeback in team history - to beat Green Bay 40-34 in overtime and improve to 6-0. This season, the Chiefs are also in first place in the AFC West, tied with San Diego, and have been one of the surprises of the league. After starting 0-2 and looking resigned to a rough year, Kansas City has reversed course, as an active defense has lifted the Chiefs to four wins in their last five games. The Chiefs, coming off a bye week, are even with the Chargers despite being outscored 113-102 on the season.

Jared Allen leads the AFC with eight sacks in just five games, and Kansas City ranks sixth in the NFL with 21 sacks. The team has forced 15 turnovers and the defense is the best in the NFL inside the red zone, allowing touchdowns only 26.7 percent of the time. Allen has been perhaps the biggest reason for that. After a two-game suspension to start the year because of multiple DUI convictions, his return has coincided with the Chiefs' 4-1 stretch. After a slow start following his preseason holdout, Pro Bowl running back Larry Johnson has recorded back-to-back 100-yard games. Receiver Dwayne Bowe, meanwhile, leads all rookies with 29 catches and 499 yards. Green Bay's James Jones is first in the NFC among first-year players with 26 catches and 400 yards.

Washington Redskins (4-3) At New York Jets (1-7)

Date & Time: November 4, Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

Fans of the New York Jets have been calling for a quarterback change all season. They'll finally get their wish Sunday, but it remains to be seen if a new signal caller can turn New York's dismal season around. Kellen Clemens takes over for Chad Pennington under center and tries to help the Jets end a five-game losing streak when they host the Washington Redskins. New York is off to a 1-7 start and Pennington's struggles are only part of the problem. While his numbers rank him in the middle of the pack among NFL quarterbacks, he hasn't been able to lead his club to many points.

The Jets are 30th in the league in total offense with 284.3 yards per game and rank 26th in scoring with 17.4 points a contest. Pennington hasn't been helped by the Jets' rushing attack, which is averaging just 90.9 yards per game despite the addition of running back Thomas Jones in the offseason. Clemens has appeared in five games since being taken in the second round of the 2006 draft out of Oregon. He's completed 29 of 60 passes for 362 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions. He started in place of an injured Pennington on Sept. 16 in Baltimore, and went 19-for-37 for 260 yards with one TD and two picks in New York's 20-13 loss.

The Jets' skid reached five last Sunday when they managed just 254 yards of offense - their second-lowest total of the season - in a 13-3 home defeat to Buffalo. Pennington had 106 yards on 13 completions and was sacked three times. Clemens replaced him late in the game and was 5-of-12 for 67 yards and two interceptions. Pennington overcame consecutive rotator cuff operations and won the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award last season, when he threw for a career-high 3,352 yards in leading New York to a 10-6 record and a wild-card berth.

This season, he has thrown for 1,317 yards and nine touchdowns in seven games, but has seven interceptions - three that sealed losses - as opposing defensive backs seem to be keying on a lack of arm strength. Jones has only two 100-yard rushing games and has failed to score a TD after running for 1,210 yards and six scores to help Chicago reach the Super Bowl last season. With the inexperienced Clemens now running the team, Jones might get more carries.

Washington (4-3) gets a chance to bounce back against one of the worst teams in the NFL after being routed 52-7 last week by New England, likely the league's top club. The Redskins allowed season highs in points, total yards (486), passing yards (334) and rushing yards (154). They also committed a season-worst four turnovers and held the ball for just 22 minutes, 11 seconds. It was Washington's worst loss since a 53-0 defeat to the New York Giants during its 1-12-1 season of 1961.

This will be Moss' first game against his former team since New York traded him to Washington for fellow receiver Laveranues Coles in March 2005. The Jets selected Moss with the 16th overall pick in the 2001 draft, and he caught 151 passes for 2,416 yards and 19 TDs in four seasons with New York. Coles, meanwhile, started his career with the Jets before leaving after three seasons to sign a seven-year deal with Washington in March 2003. He might not be on the field Sunday, however, as he suffered a concussion late in the loss to Buffalo when he jumped to catch a pass from Pennington and was immediately hit in the middle of the back by Terrence McGee. The Redskins are 7-1 all-time against the Jets.
