Colorado Buffaloes (4-4)At Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-2)

Date & Time: October 27, Saturday, 12:00 p.m.

A pair of teams trying to find their way back into the win column collide in Lubbock this Saturday, as the Colorado Buffaloes lock horns with the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Big 12 play at Jones AT&T Stadium. For the second straight week, the Buffaloes found themselves on the losing end of a decision, dropping a 19-14 affair against nationally-ranked Kansas this past weekend. With the loss, the team dipped to an even 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play. To make matters worse, Colorado now hits the road, where it has won just once in three tries thus far.

As for Texas Tech, it is coming off its worst loss of the season, a 41-10 beating at the hands of nationally- ranked Missouri last weekend. The loss snapped the club's three-game win streak and dropped it to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in league action. The Raiders, however, now head back to the friendly confines of Jones AT&T Stadium, where they have won six straight, including all four this season. Texas Tech and Colorado have split eight previous meetings on the gridiron, with the Buffaloes posting a 30-6 triumph in last season's encounter in Boulder.

#21 Virginia Cavaliers (7-1)At NC State Wolfpack (2-5)

Date & Time: October 27, Saturday, 4:30 p.m.

Tied for the second-longest winning streak in the nation entering this week, the 21st-ranked Virginia Cavaliers try to stay perfect in ACC play as they contend with the NC State Wolfpack on the road in Raleigh. Since falling to Wyoming in the season opener, 23-3, the Cavaliers have reeled off seven consecutive victories, the most recent being an 18-17 nail-biter last Saturday night versus Maryland on the road. During the team's win streak this season, which has matched a school record previously accomplished in 1914, 1949 and 1990, five have come by five points or less.

As for the Wolfpack, they managed to post just their second win of 2007 last weekend in a 34-20 triumph over East Carolina. The win was the first on the road this season for NC State and its first against an opponent from the newly-renamed Football Bowl Subdivision. The squad, which is still 0-3 in league matchups, posted a 38-17 win over Wofford at home. As far as the all-time series is concerned, NC State leads, 32-21-1, since the relationship began back in 1904. The Wolfpack is 15-8 at home in the series, but lost to Virginia on the road last season in a 26-20 decision.

Indiana Hoosiers (5-3)At Wisconsin Badgers (6-2)

Date & Time: October 27, Saturday, 12:00 p.m.

A set of teams trying to notch their third Big Ten win of the season collide at Camp Randall Stadium this Saturday, as the Indiana Hoosiers tussle with the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison. The Hoosiers enter the contest on a low note, as they suffered a 36-31 setback to Penn State this past weekend. It was the second straight loss by Indiana, which dipped to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in league play. The Hoosiers will now take their third crack at becoming bowl eligible, a feat they last accomplished back in 1994.

As for Wisconsin, it stepped out of league play last weekend and easily defeated Northern Illinois 44-3. The win was the team's 12th straight at Camp Randal Stadium and it also made the Badgers bowl eligible for the sixth straight season. Now at 6-2 overall, Wisconsin heads back into league play, where it is an even 2-2 thus far. The Badgers lead the all-time series with Indiana, 33-18-2, and that includes a 52-17 triumph in last season's meeting in Bloomington.

Utah Utes (5-3) At Colorado State Rams (1-6)

Date & Time: October 27, Saturday, 5:30 p.m.

No longer winless in 2007, the Colorado State Rams take aim at their second straight victory this weekend as they challenge the Utah Utes in Mountain West Conference play at Hughes Stadium. The Rams had been suffering through one of the longest losing streaks in the nation up until last weekend when the team finally broke through with a commanding 48-23 win over UNLV on the road at Sam Boyd Stadium. The victory snapped a 13-game slide by CSU, which hadn't won since beating the same UNLV squad by a score of 28-7 back on October 7, 2006.

As for the Utes, they've provided head coach Kyle Whittingham with his first four-game win streak thanks to a thrilling 27-20 decision against TCU last Thursday night on the road in Fort Worth. The win was the fifth in the last six games for the Utes, who are also now 2-2 in league play. Utah needs just one more victory this season to become bowl eligible and possibly take part in its fifth consecutive postseason. The team has won its last six bowl contests dating back to 1999, marked the second-longest postseason win streak in the nation. With their 28-21 win in last year's meeting, the Utes pushed their lead in the all-time series with Colorado State to 51-22-2.

UCLA Bruins (5-2)At Washington State Cougars (2-5)

Date & Time: October 27, Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

A pair of teams at completely different ends of the Pac-10 standings square off in Pullman this Saturday, as the UCLA Bruins duel with the Washington State Cougars at Martin Stadium. The Bruins enter the contest a perfect 4-0 in league play and that has them in a tie with Arizona State for first place in the Pac-10 standings. Last weekend, the team knocked off its first nationally-ranked opponent of the season, defeating California 30-21. Dating back to last season, UCLA has now won seven consecutive Pac-10 games and that is their longest conference winning streak since posting 15 victories in a row from 1997-98. Now at 5-2 overall, the Bruins hit the road, where they are 2-1, including a perfect 2-0 in league play.

As for WSU, it resides at the bottom of the league standings, along with Washington, at 0-4. All four losses have come in a row, including a 53-7 beating at the hands of nationally-ranked Oregon in its most recent outing on October 13th. With just a 2-5 overall mark, the Cougars now return home, where they are 2-1 on the year. In terms of the all-time series, UCLA owns a 35-17-1 advantage over WSU, although the Cougars won last season's meeting, 37-15, in Pasadena.

Troy State Trojans (5-2) At Arkansas State Indians (3-4)

Date & Time: October 27, Saturday, 7:00 p.m.

The red-hot Troy Trojans will try to remain undefeated in Sun Belt Conference action when they battle the Arkansas State Indians this Saturday at Indian Stadium. After opening the season with two straight losses, the Trojans have won five consecutive games, including a sensational 45-7 win over North Texas this past weekend. Since the beginning of last season the Trojans have been outstanding in league action, posting an 11-1 mark.

As for the Indians, they suffered a tough, 24-7 setback to Middle Tennessee this past weekend. The loss dropped the team to 3-4 on the year and 1-2 in conference play. Despite having a losing record on the year the team is a perfect 3-0 at home. The Indians have won three consecutive meetings against Troy, and that includes a 33-26 win over the Trojans a year ago. The most recent win pushed Arkansas State's lead in the all-time series to 7-2.

#18 California Golden Bears (5-2) At #7 Arizona State Sun Devils (7-0)

Date & Time: October 27, Saturday, 10:00 p.m.

The seventh-ranked Arizona State Sun Devils sit atop the Pac-10 standings this week, but put that lofty position in jeopardy as they welcome the 18th-ranked California Golden Bears to Tempe for a conference showdown. First-year coach Dennis Erickson has made an immediate impact in the desert, as his Sun Devils are 7-0 for the first time since 1996 and just the eighth time in school history.

ASU was idle a week ago, but despite the unblemished record, the Sun Devils are still looking for respect, as California represents the first ranked foe for ASU this season. Jeff Tedford's Golden Bears opened 2007 with five straight wins, but have hit a wall of late, dropping two straight in-conference, including last week's 30-21 setback at UCLA. This will be the 27th all-time meeting between these two teams, with the series knotted up at 13-13. The Golden Bears have tied things up thanks to winning the last four meetings, including a 49-21 decision in Berkeley last season.

Date & Time: October 27, Saturday, 9:00 p.m.

With the top spot in the West Division of Conference USA on the line, the UTEP Miners will host the red-hot Houston Cougars this Saturday evening at the Sun Bowl. The Cougars have won two consecutive contests heading into this weekend with the most recent win coming against UAB by a 49-10 score. Since the beginning of last season, the Cougars are an outstanding 10-2 in C-USA action.

As for the Miners, they had a three-game winning streak snapped two weeks ago with a tough, 45-42 overtime loss to East Carolina. Since taking over as head coach, Mike Price has led the Miners to a 16-6 mark at the Sun Bowl. Next up for the Miners will be back-to-back road games against Rice and Tulane. After losing the first three meetings in the all-time series against UTEP, the Cougars finally got into the win column this past season with a 34-17 win over the Miners.

New York Giants (5-2) At  Miami Dolphins (0-7)

Date & Time: October 28, Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

At least the Miami Dolphins get a home game against a team to which they haven't lost in more than a decade as they try to finally post their first win. Problem is, that 'home game' isn't in Florida. It's not even in the United States. And the team they're facing is one of the hottest in football. The New York Giants hope a trip overseas doesn't cool them off, going for a sixth straight victory and trying to keep the disheartened Dolphins winless on Sunday as the NFL plays a regular-season game in London for the first time. The only other game played in the regular season that took place outside the U.S. came in 2005 when Arizona beat San Francisco in Mexico City. The league has held exhibition games overseas previously, but never a game that counted.

This matchup at a sold-out Wembley Stadium should give Europeans a better taste of what the NFL is all about, as opposed to preseason contests in which starters didn't play much and the results were virtually meaningless. Commissioner Roger Goodell recently said the league is even considering holding a Super Bowl in London at some point. The Giants (5-2) have won five in a row - the last four were all decided by double digits - and are a victory shy of their longest regular-season win streak since a six-game run in 1993. Miami (0-7), meanwhile, is off to the worst start in the franchise's 42-year history and has given up a league-high 231 points. No other team has allowed more than 200. The Dolphins won the most recent meeting, 23-10 in 2003, but that's the only matchup between these teams since the Giants won 17-7 in 1996.

This trip is little more than what a flight for a game on the West Coast would be, and both teams do get their bye weeks following this contest, but Miami has the bad fortune of this being considered one of its home games. New York has had no trouble taking care of inferior teams the past few weeks, scoring more than 30 points in relatively easy wins over the New York Jets, Atlanta and San Francisco. The Giants now face a Miami defense which has surrendered 90 points over its last two games. A win Sunday would put New York at 6-2, the same record it had at the halfway point last season before losing six of its final eight regular-season games.

Robbins is part of a defense which has improved significantly since allowing a combined 80 points and 846 yards of offense during the 0-2 start. The Giants have surrendered a total of 69 points - only six offensive touchdowns - during the five-game win streak while holding each of their opponents under 290 total yards. They have compiled 25 sacks in that span and lead the league with 27, including six in a 33-15 win over the 49ers last Sunday.

The Dolphins are far from healthy. Last week's 49-28 home loss to the Patriots saw Miami lose top rusher Ronnie Brown and starting safety Renaldo Hill for the season to torn ACLs. The team already lost quarterback Trent Green (concussion) and safety Yeremiah Bell (Achilles') to season-ending injuries. Linebacker Zach Thomas might not make the trip to London because he was in a minor car accident after last Sunday's defeat. The departure of Brown may be the biggest loss yet. He leads the league with 991 yards from scrimmage, ranks fourth with 602 rushing yards and had scored five touchdowns.

Jesse Chatman should see the bulk of the carries in Brown's place, though Patrick Cobbs and Lorenzo Booker could get some as well. Cleo Lemon has started the last two games for Green and has had his moments, throwing for 492 yards and two touchdowns, but he's also thrown three interceptions and been sacked five times.

Manning also makes his share of mistakes - he's had at least one interception in every game - but has been fairly steady. He's thrown for two touchdown passes in three straight games. He's backed by a running game which has been solid regardless of who gets most of the carries. Lately it's been Brandon Jacobs, who has rushed for 293 yards and two touchdowns on 51 attempts in three games since returning from a knee injury. Derrick Ward played well while Jacobs was sidelined and still ranks among the NFL's top 20 rushers with 448 yards despite getting only 15 carries over the last two weeks.

Houston Texans (3-4) At San Diego Chargers (3-3)

Date & Time: October 28, Sunday, 4:05 p.m.

The San Diego Chargers' franchise has more than football on its mind as it prepares for Sunday's scheduled home game against the Houston Texans. With sprawling wildfires that forced more than a half a million to flee Southern California this week, the Chargers (3-3) are in Arizona working out at the Cardinals' training facility as they await the league's decision where and when the game will be played. San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium is being used as an evacuation center for those whose homes could be endangered by the fires. Houston and Dallas are also being considered as alternate sites for the game, which could possibly be played Monday.

About 40 people in the organization, including as many as 18 players, had to evacuate their homes. Fifteen players on the current roster were with the team in 2003 when wildfires forced the team to move a Monday night game versus Miami to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. The team's current situation overshadows San Diego's attempt for a third straight victory as it looks to top the .500 mark for the first time since starting 1-3. The Chargers are coming off a bye week and haven't played since a 28-14 victory over Oakland on Oct. 14.

Reigning MVP LaDainian Tomlinson enjoyed his most productive day of the season, rushing for 198 yards on 24 carries while matching a career high with four touchdowns on the ground. Tomlinson, who's rushed for 329 yards and two TDs in his first five games, needs one rushing score to pass Jim Brown for fourth place on the all-time list with 107. Tomlinson for 121 yards and a TD in San Diego's 27-20 victory at Houston on Sept. 12, 2004 in the teams' most recent meeting.

While the offense looks to maintain its recent success, the Chargers defense hopes for another dominating performance after forcing three turnovers and recording five sacks against the Raiders. Merriman had 2 1/2 sacks and fellow linebacker Shaun Phillips had two and forced a fumble for the Chargers, who have allowed 17 points in their last two wins after giving up 99 in three straight losses.

It's uncertain which Houston quarterback the Chargers will face. Starter Matt Schaub suffered a bruised hip in a 38-36 loss to Tennessee last Sunday and though he practiced Wednesday, is listed as day-to-day. Schaub, who has completed 68.5 percent of his passes and thrown five TDs with five interceptions in his first season with the Texans, was just 5-for-9 for 23 yards before being injured last Sunday.

Houston had just 34 total yards of offense when backup Sage Rosenfels led the team on a 70-yard scoring drive early in the fourth quarter as the Texans scored 29 points in the final 15 minutes, but fell short. Rosenfels was 22-for-35 for 290 yards and joined Vinny Testaverde, now 43 and with Carolina, as the only players to throw four fourth-quarter touchdowns. Rosenfels hasn't started since 2005 with Miami. Houston (3-4), which has lost four of five since starting 2-0, will try to avoid a third straight defeat as it looks to reach the .500 mark through eight games for the first time in franchise history. The Texans are 0-2 all-time versus San Diego.
