Draft Grade: F
|
|
Every year, Washington's
strategy seems the same:
Shop the free agent and
trade markets, then deal
draft selections in
exchange for proven NFL
players. That was
certainly the strategy
again in 2006 as the
'Skins had only one first
day pick, used well on LB
Roger McIntosh.
With good range and
typical Miami athleticism,
McIntosh could contend for
a starting job at OLB now
that LaVar Arrington has
left town. Day Two, of
course, was a
disappointment since
Washington had to wait
until pick #153, spent on
DT Anthony Montgomery,
who should provide decent
depth up front. You get
the sense that with the
Draft Weekend marathon
lasting approximately 40
hours, GM Dan Snyder would
much rather be playing
golf with his high-priced
free agent acquisitions
than huddling in a war
room. |
