The coaching staff wanted
Matt Leinart, but were
trumped by the front
office, who saw greater
sales and marketability in
Vince Young, who's
talent is undeniable.
While Young made need some
time to develop into a
complete NFL passer rather
than scrambler, he might
not get it as rumors
swirled about shortly
after the selection that
Steve McNair, who would be
the ideal mentor for
Young, would be traded.
Young is the future now.
And he'll have some solid
talent in the backfield
with him, including
incumbent starter Chris
Brown and fellow '06
draftee LenDale White.
Despite knocks on his work
ethic and weight, White is
still a bowling ball as a
rusher capable of getting
the tougher yards and
stretching them into big
gains. The Titans won't be
disappointed in this pick.
LB Terna Nande is a
powerful performer with a
chiseled frame. If not for
an injury that sidelined
him for most of the 2005
season, Nande likely would
have been a second round
pick. As it is, he's a
fourth round steal for
Tennessee. And DT Jesse
Mahelona is a warrior
who will provide
exceptional depth behind
starters Haynesworth and
Starks. |
