Draft Grade: B-
|
|
Anyone else get the sense
that Andy Reid and the
Philly front office is
getting incredibly one
dimensional. Every year,
the draft strategy seems
the same. D line - O line
- D line - O line. The '06
Draft was no different.
Despite talent already in
place up front on both
sides of the ball, the
Eagles went after
"trench-man" - and very
good ones. DT Brodrick
Bunkley and OT
Winston Justice could
quickly become the best in
the business at their
respective positions, but
both may need to be
monitored closely (on and
off the field). Each will
need some discipline, but
both are stars in the
making. Same goes for pick
#99, OG Max Jean-Gilles,
a ferocious mauler on the
line, but a guy who began
his career as a promising
OT before ballooning up to
350 lbs. at one point and
being forced inside.
Still, Gilles would be a
road-grater in the NFL
once a disciplined work
ethic is obtained. McNabb
and the offense still
lacks a legitimate #1
receiver. Jason Avant
and Jeremy Bloom
will be solid
contributors, but neither
will be the game-breaker
that's needed. Maybe next
year. |
