| New York's
O line was full of holes, so no surprise that they spent their first
two picks on help up front. OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson will be an
elite performer for years to come. The New York native was a perfect
fit to fill the role of blindside bookend for whichever QB takes the
reigns of this offense in the future. Center Nick Mangold is an
impressive talent in his own right, and will be charged with the
unenviable task of replacing the productivity of former Jets All-Pro
Kevin Mawae. A broken ankle limited Kellen Clemens during his
Senior season at Oregon, but the Jets are hoping that full recovery
could mean that he could contend with Pennington and Ramsey for the
starting job. Anthony Schlegel is a physical inside Linebacker,
which the Jets will need as they expand to the 3-4 defense under new
Head Coach Eric Mangini. Lack of depth behind the aging wonder Curtis
Martin at Running Back should still be a concern, even though the
addition of undersized scooter Leon Washington should suffice
for now. |
