Green Bay drafted well,
and boy did they need it!
On defense, a pair of
All-Big Ten performers
were added in A.J. Hawk
and Abdul Hodge.
Hawk, a superior OLB,
should be a starter
immediately. Hodge, an
experienced MLB, could
take over the starting job
at the MLB post, allowing
the more athletic Nick
Barnett to move to his
more natural OLB position,
in the process, giving
Green Bay one of the
league's premiere young LB
corps. OT Daryn
Colledge was a solid
choice in round two
considering Green Bay's
lack of talent and depth
up front. Jason Spitz is a
feisty interior lineman
capable of playing Center
or Offensive Guard. WR
Greg Jennings was a
stretch in round two -
better talent could've
been had - but the Packers
are hoping his speed could
open up the aerial attack
now that Javon Walker is
out of town. Cory
Rogers was a nice pick
considering his skills as
a dynamic return
specialist, something the
Packers have lacked in
recent years. Will
Blackmon is a superb
athlete also, capable of
starring at either WR or
CB, even though he fits
Green Bay's plans better
as a CB. Finally, Ingle
Martin was a great
pick in round five as he
has the potential to be a
capable backup behind
Aaron Rodgers in the
future (aka the post-Favre
era). |
