The starting four at LB
were already solid, so the
stretch to nab Bobby
Carpenter with the
18th pick overall got
Dallas off to a very bad
start. Carpenter has
upside, but he wasn't
worthy of "top 20"
consideration. With Jason
Witten emerging as one of
the NFL's premiere Tight
Ends, the selection of
Anthony Fasano in
round two was odd to say
the least. Sure, depth
behind Witten is needed,
but that's what fourth and
fifth round picks are for.
Dallas has needs on the O
line, especially after
losing veteran Larry Allen
in free agency. Why they
waited to draft help for
the O line until round
seven remains a mystery.
Skyler Green could
become a solid slot
receiver behind Owens and
Glenn, plus he's an
experienced return
specialist. The need at
Free Safety next to Roy
Williams is glaring, and
Pat Watkins was the
best Dallas could do to
address that considering
their earlier miscues. |
